CONCORD – According to a notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Chip Ganassi Racing will permanently cease operations in the company’s participation in NASCAR competition following the completion of the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series on November 7, 2021.

Trackhouse Racing purchased the assets of Chip Ganassi Racing in a deal announced at the end of June, and the new owner “intends to operate a two-car NASCAR Cup Series team from the existing CGR facility beginning on November 8, 2021,” the notice filed with the Department of Commerce reads.  Because of that fact, the notice indicates that “This is not a ‘plant closing’.”

The notice, signed by company COO Doug Duchardt, also indicates that up to 55 employees may be affected.  Layoffs will commence on November 7 and conclude within a 14-day period, according to the notice.
