RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Get Spiffy, the fast-growing Triangle startup that once focused only only mobile car washes, continues to expand its reach both geographically and in the types of services being offered.
The company, led by serial entrepreneur and investor Scot Wingo, announced early Wednesday its acquisition of Tennessee-based Pit Crew. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
But in discussing the move, Wingo emphasized Spiffy’s physical reach into Nashille, Memphis and Knoxville markets. Perhaps more importantly, Pit Crew provides services that Spiffy wants to add to a growing number of offerings.
“[L]ike Spiffy [they] work with both consumers and fleet customers,” Wingo tells WRAL TechWire.
He then cited reasons for the deal:
  • A great new geography added that was already a target for us
  • They have experience in  services such as batteries, brakes and head/tail lights that we look to expand to all of our customers.
  • They have similar business model as Spiffy – W2 technicians in company owned vans with the right equipment to exceed customer expectations
  • Awesome team that will fit right in with Spiffy!

Pit Crew launched in 2018.

“We’ve had our sights set on Tennessee for some time, and we quickly realized that the team at Pit Crew is doing a phenomenal job in Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville,” Wingo said in the announcement.

“Our companies are aligned in completely owning the customer experience for both consumer and fleet, which makes this acquisition exciting for both sides. We can’t wait to take what they’re doing nationwide while bringing wash and detail to these new cities in Tennessee.”

Spiffy has grown to provide services for fleets and other offerings as it has expanded far beyond the Triangle.

In addition to the Triangle, Spiffy now offers its programs in Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Columbia, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Dover, Fort Lauderdale, Greensboro, Greenville, Knoxville, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, New York, Orlando, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle-Tacoma, St. Louis, Tampa, Tucson, Washington DC, and Wilmington, DE.

In its seven yearas as a business, Spiffy has grown to offer mobiel services focusing on wash, detail, and oil change services.

Pit Crew offers in addition to basic services like Spiffy battery replacement, wiper blades, headlines and more.\

“Spiffy aims to gradually incorporate these services into its service offerings for individuals, as well as fleet clients through their Fleet
Management as a Service (FMaaS) model,” the company said.
