RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Good news for people seeking work: The Triangle’s job market is still heading upward despite the COVID-19 Delta variant, according to WRAL TechWire’s weekly Jobs Report.

Triangle metros showed significant gains on national job boards last week:

  • Glassdoor has almost 1,500 more openings in the RTP area from a week ago.
  • Adzuna shows over 3,000 jobs added in Wake County, Raleigh and Durham County, compared to this time last week.
  • Dice.com, which tracks tech jobs, shows 5,330 new jobs added in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.

Indeed, LinkedIn and ZipRecruiter also posted bigger numbers.

And more jobs are on the way.

The Triangle is reaping the benefits of a banner year in economic development as thousands of new jobs flood into the region. Wake County Economic Development recently reported that new economic development projects have generated over 9,000 jobs and $3.4 billion in investments since last October. And 48 additional projects under consideration could bring 10,000 more jobs to the region.

Even so, the ongoing pandemic continues to pose new challenges for local employers. Large firms such as SAS and Merck now require workers to get the COVID-19 vaccine or face termination. This stance appears to be a rarity in the Triangle, though, at least for now.

NC shatters record for new business creation with 129,000+ so far this year

WRAL TechWire is tracking the Triangle’s job trends as the region continues its economic recovery. Our weekly Jobs Report compiles the latest information from the region’s top job boards, offering a breakdown of how many jobs are posted, which companies are hiring and for what positions. We’ve also included upcoming job fairs, student-centric resources and a list of Twitter accounts that track local job openings.

Let’s highlight what’s new on the job boards since last week’s Jobs Report:
