RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – A Dallas-based third-party logistics provider, Life Science Logistics, has leased a 132,000 square foot facility in Research Triangle Park.

The company will hire between 50-100 people to staff the facility, which will be renovated to provide temperature controlled and cold storage space.

The company is expanding into the region due to what it called “booming demand for FDA-regulated, temperature-controlled storage and distribution of pharmaceutical and medical devices” in a statement announcing the expansion.

A spokesperson for the company told WRAL TechWire that the company did not pursue any state or local incentives in determining to expand to the region.

The company operates 12 such storage and distribution centers in nine states.

The RTP location will open in 2022.  The company stated the facility is currently in the process of “being rebuilt to LSL’s controlled-temperature and cold chain storage and distribution specifications.”

The company already employs 600 people nationally.

“Demand for pharmaceutical and medical device temperature-controlled storage and distribution in Raleigh-Durham has never been greater,” said CEO Richard Beeny in a statement.  “We felt it was critical to respond to the growing needs of our East Coast clients and of the market – and both are asking for our services in Raleigh-Durham.”

There’s a need for both controlled-temperature, 20-25 degrees Celsius, and cold chain, 2-8 degrees Celsius, storage space, the company noted, and the facility will provide both storage service options.

The company was founded in 2006.  The company has not yet released the specific location of the facility, the expected average wage or starting wage of the jobs, or the projected total investment in the project.
