RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – The Triangle region’s presence on national job boards continues to increase despite the COVID Delta variant.

Over the last seven days, Indeed.com added 6,152 jobs in Raleigh and 3,157 jobs in Durham. ZipRecruiter added over 1,000 jobs in Raleigh as well. On Adzuna, Wake County has 1,648 more listings from a week ago, while Raleigh added 1,200.

Another set of labor market data from NCWorks shows that across North Carolina, openings for healthcare practitioners and technical workers dominated the job market in August, corresponding to 51,173 positions. Management occupations came in second, with 30,750 openings, followed by office and administrative support (22,552 openings), computer and mathematical occupations (21,693), and sales and related careers (20,530).

And North Carolina’s unemployment rate continues to bounce back from last year’s record highs. According to the latest figures from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stands at about 4.3% as of August 2021—a 2.5 percentage point drop from August 2020.

Who’s hiring in Triangle? IBM, Cree, Iqvia, Fidelity, Microsoft seeking talent

The financial and information sectors saw the most job gains out of all other major industries studied last month, but NC Commerce also recorded declines across government, trade, transportation and utilities, and leisure and hospitality services.

AMA Triangle

AMA Triangle, the fifth-largest chapter in American Marketing Association’s nationwide network, aims to be a go-to resource for all things marketing in the Triangle. AMA Triangle provides professional training, free career webinars and a job board offering free resume placement for marketing professionals.

As of Sunday afternoon, AMA Triangle’s job board shows 63 marketing jobs in Raleigh, 29 in Durham and 10 in Chapel Hill (with the 25-mile radius filter).

Two new jobs were posted on the site last week:

  • Medtech firm Hillrom is hiring a global marketing manager to work remotely or out of its Cary office.
  • Stewart, a design and engineering firm with offices across North Carolina, is hiring a digital/social media strategist in Raleigh.

American Underground

Durham-based startup hub American Underground regularly posts job openings on its job board. Job seekers can filter their search by job function, location, company, industry and job title. As of Sunday afternoon, the site shows 297 jobs at 36 companies.

Dozens of jobs were posted in the last seven days:

  • Insurtech startup Policygenius, which continues to expand hiring at its Durham headquarters, added listings for a sales team lead, a case management coordinator, a case manager, senior data analysts, sales associates, senior instructional designers, customer engagement associates and customer relationship managers.
  • Durham-based data science firm NoviSci added three remote positions: Senior front-end software engineer, senior back-end software engineer and lead DevOps engineer. It’s also hiring a senior clinical operations specialist in Durham.

Earlier this year, WRAL TechWire and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center launched a Bio Jobs Hub platform focused on biopharma manufacturing — one of North Carolina’s largest industries, employing over 26,000 people.

A mother’s work transition: BioWork certificate program opens pathway for new career

Many biopharma companies are hiring in the Triangle, including large employers like Biogen in Research Triangle Park, bioMérieux in Durham, GSK in Zebulon, Merck & Co. in Durham, Novo Nordisk in Durham and Clayton, Pfizer in Sanford, and others.

Leadership Triangle

Leadership Triangle’s job board is packed with local jobs. The site displays 608 openings at 30 companies as of Sunday afternoon.

NCWorks, the statewide job search portal run by the North Carolina Department of Commerce, has nearly 100 career centers located across the state. NCWorks also has a mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The NCWorks website contains a COVID-19 job board that lists companies hiring to fill immediate technical and healthcare needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

North Carolina military veterans, transitioning service members and spouses can find additional resources on NCWorks’ separate veterans portal.

NCWorks reports thousands of available positions. More than 2,100 people added or updated their resumes at the site in the past week, as of Sunday afternoon.

New Jobs at Mycovia Pharmaceuticals

Last week, RTP-based Mycovia Pharmaceuticals told TechWire that it’s hiring for several positions in project management, market access, insights and analytics, marketing and quality assurance. The late-stage biopharma company is developing drugs to meet women’s health needs.

A Mycovia spokesperson says it plans to add around nine employees through the fourth quarter of 2021. Its current headcount is 21.

New Jobs at Terra Dotta

Chapel Hill-based edtech company Terra Dotta told TechWire in late-August that it’s continuing to hire in the greater RTP area and anticipates another 10 new hires across sales, product development and marketing before the end of the year. The firm already has about 35 employees in the Triangle area.
