RALEIGH – This evening, the North Carolina Technology Association, NC TECH, announced the winners of the individual and corporate 2021 NC TECH Awards at an in-person event at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The NC TECH Awards, presented by the accounting firm Cherry Bekaert, a sponsor for the event, recognize exceptional achievements in innovation and excellence in business for technology companies based in North Carolina.

“Year after year we continue to see a high level of excellence and innovation from the technology community in North Carolina,” said Brooks Raiford, NC TECH’s president and CEO. “We’re pleased to highlight such a diverse mix of companies and leaders at this year’s Awards event.”

NC TECH previously announced the recipients of the individual 2021 NC TECH Awards, who were each honored at the event.  The winners:

  • Beacon Award (Outstanding Achievement): Catherine P. Bessant, Vice Chair, Global Strategy – Bank of America
  • Tech CEO of the Year: Michael Jones, CEO – Spoonflower
  • Public Leader of the Year: Governor Roy Cooper – State of North Carolina
  • Chief Information Security Officer of the Year: Chris Beal – VP of Security Initiatives & Chief Information Security – MCNC
  • Private Sector Chief Information Officer Of the Year: Jay Upchurch, Chief Information Officer – SAS
  • Public Sector Chief Information Officer of the Year: Glenn Mack – Chief Information Officer – NC Department of Public Safety
  • Tech Educator of the Year: Garrett Love – Chair of Engineering – North Carolina School of Science + Math
  • Tech Woman of the Year: Rashida Hodge – VP, Azure Data + AIT – Microsoft
