RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – International tech and industrial giant Toshiba’s reorganization announced early Friday is not expected to impact Triangle-based Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions. In fact, the company focusing on retail commerce solutions such as point-of-sale technology, is growing. And hiring.

So explains Fredrik Carlegren, Vice President of  Marketing, in an exclusive exchange with WRAL TechWire.

“Based in part on the strategic importance and sustained growth in our retail business, Toshiba Corporation has publicly announced that it will continue to hold the shares of Toshiba Tec Corporation,” Carlegren said via email, noting Commerce Solutions is part of Toshiba Tec Corporation.

Toshiba, which has big Triangle presence, is reorganizing

“Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions remains focused on continuing to provide world-class solutions, service and support for our clients worldwide with no operational change or impact based on the recent Toshiba Corporation news,” he added in resopnse to an inquiry from TechWire.

Business is growing, too, and the company is hiring, he added.

“We are hiring to support this growth including over 120 open positions across the US, and 40+ current open positions in the local Raleigh-Durham area. We are proud to call the Raleigh-Durham area home and our global headquarters,” Carlegren explained.

“Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions continues on our path of growth under the leadership of [CEO] Rance Poehler. We proudly serve some of the most successful retail clients around the world directly and through our extensive business partner ecosystem. Through the pandemic, the retail transformation has accelerated,” the marketing exec noted.
“This has allowed our business to grow in response as we help our clients thrive in an increasingly digital world. With thousands of employees globally, our local NC team of over 500 employees support this growth across high-tech development, manufacturing, service and other HQ business operations. We’re excited about the investments and commitments we continue to make in the local community and our people.”
Poehler was named CEO in November 2020.
“The retail industry is looking for new and innovative ways to adapt more quickly to customer needs while they optimize store operations and reduce the cost of delivering and managing their business,” he said at that time.
“Toshiba has a strong worldwide retail position and is on the verge of disrupting the industry with their intelligent end-to-end solutions. I’m honored and excited about the opportunity to help this world-class retail commerce solutions business grow in ways that support our partner community, and helps our clients delight their customers while becoming even greater merchants.”
