MORRISVILLE – ABM Aviation will lay off 119 employees from its facility located in Wake County, according to a notice filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

A report from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, indicates that employees will be separated from the company effective on February 1, 2022.

The company filed the required notice, under the North Carolina Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, in a letter dated December 1, 2020.

The notice, signed by Luke Lindberg, assistant general counsel, which was obtained by WRAL TechWire in a request made to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, notes that the company will no longer provide janitorial services at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport, RDU, which prompted the layoffs.

All 119 employees associated with this location at RDU will be terminated, the notice indicates, including cleaners, porters, technicians, agents, advisors, administrators, and account managers.

The company’s notice states that a new vendor, Flagship Facility Services, will provide janitorial services at RDU beginning on February 1, 2022 and “may be offering employment to certain ABM employees who will be displaced due to this action.”

“However, such employment is not guaranteed to these outgoing ABM employees, and we do not have any information about such employment at this time,” the notice reads.

The company notice indicates that the decision to end the vendor relationship was made by RDU.

ABM could not be reached for further comment.
