Are layoffs about to hit Biogen workforce? Drug giant won’t comment

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Drug giant Biogen is not commenting on information provided to WRAL TechWire saying that the company is planning to lay off “hundreds of workers.”

Biogen operates a major campus in RTP. Its headquarters is in Cambridge, Mass.

“We are not providing any comments on this,” a Biogen spokesperson said via email.

Several media reports said Wednesday that the company was planning to cut as many as 1,000 jobs.

Medical news service STAT noted “Biogen prepares for large layoffs.”

Added the Boston Business Journal: “Biogen Inc. is reportedly concocting a restructuring plan that would result in the termination of more than 1,000 employees.”

Biogen recently made some layoffs at a patient service operation in Raleigh.
