GREENSBORO – LT Apparel Group, a New York City headquartered company, will expand its operations and facilities in Guilford County.

The company will invest $57 million and bring a minimum of 116 new jobs to the region, as well as increase industrial capacity at the company’s site in Reedy Fork Corporate Park, according to a statement from the state of North Carolina.

“Manufacturers continue to choose North Carolina for expansion projects that are critical to their bottom line,” said North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper in the statement. “LT Apparel Group’s decision demonstrates confidence in our workforce and the growth of our state.”

A site in the Triad was recently selected by Toyota for the car maker’s first U.S. electric battery plant, and the company will invest $1.29 billion in the region.  The Piedmont-Triad Airport is reportedly the site of another potential manufacturing project for an aerospace company.

While a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) is not involved in the expansion of LT Apparel Group, according to a spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the statement notes that the company will receive a one-time performance-based grant of $200,000 from the One North Carolina Fund.

The company owns the children’s clothing brand French Toast, a line of schoolwear, and its brands also include addidas Kids and Carhartt Kids.

“Our operations here in Greensboro have come full circle,” said Richard Sutton, CEO, LT Apparel Group, in the statement.  “From designing products in Revolution Mill to warehousing and distributing them from Brown Summit, LT Apparel is part of the fabric of this community, and we’re committed to remain so.  After a long search for our new home, it became clear that Greensboro was the right choice for us.  We appreciate the support we’ve received from all the state and local partners, and we look forward to growing our company in North Carolina.”

According to the statement, the newly created jobs will have an average annual salary of $50,235, and the state estimates that the expansion will result in a $4 million payroll impact in the region on an annual basis.
