You won’t find many residents who complain about high speed internet service in their homes.

But residents in one Cary neighborhood who live on Kilarney Drive are frustrated with the crews installing Google Fiber in their neighborhood.

They say the pace of the install, which has brought service outages from other utilities, and the noise have unsettled the stately homes in the subdivision.

Crews are installing Google Fiber, which will provide another high speed internet option to people who live in the area.

Homeowners say the crew has hit multiple utility lines since they started digging up the street about a week ago, cutting the residents’ service for internet, phone and cable.

“Of course the power went out and it was 92 degrees outside,” resident Ed Fillback said. “But it came on within four hours.”

Residents say they want to know why Google Fiber is having so many problems.

The technology giant issued a statement through a spokesperson: “Building a brand new fiber network is a big and complex project, and we’re sensitive to the impact construction has on a community. We want to be good neighbors, and do everything we can to minimize disruption, respond to residents, and resolve issues quickly.”

Homeowners in the neighborhood say they just want the project done.

“It took them a week or two to do a couple hundred yards,” Fillback said. “How long is it going to take to do the town?”

A Cary town official said officials meet and communicate regularly with their “fiber partners” to ensure complaints are being handled.”

However, they could not tell me how many complaints they have received about this project or if they have communicated with Google Fiber about this project.
