CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Google employees spent Friday giving the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House a makeover with brand new technology.

The Ronald McDonald House serves as a place where sick children can stay during medical treatment at local hospitals.

"These kids are having a tough time, and we just want them to know that we're here," said Christopher Chesnutt, an employee at Google's Lenoir Data Center. "We support them and we believe in their recovery."

Google volunteers donated TVs, laptops, XBOXs, Nintendo Switches and other types of handheld games.

"We also have some of our Google Daydreams which are the devices they put on as cameras and they're able to do interactive video games and stuff like that," Chesnutt said, who had a cousin stay at the house recently.

The Google employees also spent the day baking and doing chores for the kids.

"I hope it gives them a sense of knowing they're not alone and we're in this fight with them," Chesnutt said.
