RALEIGH – Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, high-tech talent remands in demand across North Carolina with more than 23,000 open jobs according to the NC Technology Association.

As expected, openings fell sharply from March when IT and other businesses posted some 30,000 jobs.

But demand remains robust. According to a survey of NC tech executives more than 40 percent of companies continue to hire, the business advocacy group reported as of May 15.

“North Carolina IT job openings in April were down sharply from March, and were also down a similar percentage compared to April of last year,” said Brooks Raiford, CEO of NC TECH, a business advocacy group. “This mirrors the decline nationally, and is driven by the business impact of COVID-19 that began to hit in earnest in the second half of March.”
