WAKE FOREST, N.C. — T-Mobile customers in Wake County could experience service issues after someone stole wiring and cable from a cellphone tower.

Wake County Sheriff's Office said on Monday the suspects climbed the tower and stole about $10,000 worth of copper wiring and cable.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. at the tower on Durham Road in Wake Forest.

Deputies said an employee with the company reported that someone entered the base of the tower by using a code only employees know.

T-Mobile officials said customers could have service issues for most of this week, until the wiring can be replaced.

Anyone who saw activity at the cell tower recently is asked to call Wake County Sheriff's Office at 919-856-6911.
