BURLINGTON — LabCorp, a clinical laboratory company, partnered with non-profit The Commons Project to allow people to access their LabCorp results through CommonHealth, an Android app that stores personal health information, the company announced on Tuesday.
CommonHealth was developed by clinicians, public health experts, technologists and scientists for a fast and secure way for patients to access their health data. Patients can determine who can see their information and remove providers at any time.
“By enabling patients to integrate their test results with CommonHealth, consumers can securely access their results and share them at their discretion with doctors, telehealth providers, schools, employers and others whom they may want to have access to this information,” Mark Wright, senior vice president of IT Customer Products at LabCorp, said in the release.
This application is unique because it is operated by a non-profit public service with an extensive privacy-protecting function to secure personal information.
“With the acceleration of remote medicine and telehealth, patients and providers need easy access to trusted lab data to make informed medical decisions,” said Paul Meyer, CEO of The Commons Project.
LabCorp shares fell $1.16 to close at $193.09 on Wednesday.
