MORRISVILLE – Apple, which earlier this year announced a major expansion and some 3,000 jobs coming to the Triangle, was among the first companies to permit remote-based work for corporate employees at the onset of the global coronavirus pandemic.
But now, some of the company’s employees have written a petition letter, the second in a few months, regarding the company’s current plans and policies around work location and structure. The full letter is published in a story on Vox Recode.
The latest letter outlines two alternative plans the employees are proposing to the tech giant’s leadership team and its people team.

“We continue to be concerned that this one-size-fits-all solution is causing many of our colleagues to question their future at Apple,” the letter reads. According to the authors of the letter, 68 percent of employees surveyed by the authors indicated that a lack of location flexibility would be a reason to leave the company or to consider leaving the company.
Last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook sent a memo stating employees would return to the office at least three days a week, starting in September. According to reporting from The Verge, employees of the company began to push back at that time, and the company’s management said it would listen to employee concerns, then announced it wouldn’t change its policies.
