RALEIGH – Person County will soon get more than 300 jobs paying nearly $51,000 a year from Polywood, which already has a growing presence in Roxboro.
The state of North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee on Tuesday approved a contract with Polywood, which manufactures a variety of furniture, calling for more than $3 million in state and local tax incentives pending the meeting of new job targets and other requirements.
“We are excited to expand our operations in North Carolina,” said Doug Rassi, CEO of Polywood, in a statement. “The community has embraced Polywood and we have been able to build an excellent workforce. We look forward to continuing our growth in the state and in Person County.”
Polywood plans to build a huge 500,000 square foot facility as part of the expansion. The new building will be adjacent to Pollywood’s existing facility.
“Innovative companies like Polywood thrive in rural North Carolina,” said Governor Roy Cooper in the announcement. “This additional investment in Person County proves our state has what it takes to support the growth and business needs of our manufacturers, both today and in the future.”
Under a previous agreement with the state, Polywood already was expanding its workforce by 384.
The company is based in Indiana.
