RALEIGH – Red Hat executive vice president and chief marketing officer Tim Yeaton will retire in 2022, the company announced today.

The company noted in a statement that was released earlier today that the organization has been aware of the planned retirement “for some time” and conducted a succession planning process.

Red Hat has promoted Leigh Day, who currently leads Red Hat’s brand experience team, to senior vice president.  Day will become CMO in January 2022, ahead of Yeaton’s retirement later in the year, the company said.  Day joined Red Hat in 1999, the company said.

“Leigh is deeply respected for her work to build a strong Red Hat brand,” said Red Hat president and CEO Paul Cormier.  “I can’t imagine anyone more qualified to lead the next chapter in Red Hat Marketing, and I’m excited to see where she helps take us next.”

Yeaton leaves the company after two stints, first in 2005 to 2007, and 2014 to today.

The company noted that Yeaton’s “legacy” will be in modernizing the marketing efforts for the company.

“I’m grateful to Tim for the work he’s done to help establish Red Hat as an open hybrid cloud leader and to capitalize on our momentum,” Cormier said.
