CARY – Can’t wait to see Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss and others in “The Matrix Resurrections” or get a taste of what’s to come from video games exploring the coming metaverse virtual world? Then Epic Games and partners have something for you to “experience.”

The Cary-based video game and entertainment technology company worked with members of the movie team, utilizing Epic’s latest Unreal Engine 5, to produce “The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience.”

The “experience” was formally released early Monday, although leakers on the web got a head start over the weekend.

“Get ready for a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment with UE5 in this free, boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo,” Epic and partners say.

Epic – the publisher of the globally popular Fortnite – calls the demo “a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of ‘The Matrix’ that features performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.”

The “Experience” is available for download on Micrsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation 5.

The formal launch of the “Experience” is set to take place during The Game Awards show coming up on Dec. 9.
