CARY – Fortnite, the global online sensation from Cary-based Epic Games, is reach out to members of the LGBTQIA+ community with a special battle event: Rainbow Royale.
Rainbow kicked off Tuesday and runs through July 27.
“Everyone is welcome on the Battle Bus, and this week we’re celebrating the amazing Fortnite LGBTQIA+ community,” Fortnite declared in a blogpost.
[LGBTQIA stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and/or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual and/or Ally. LGBTIQA+ adds a “+” to the acronym is an acknowledgement that there are non-cisgender and non-straight identities which are not included in the acronym. Seeking to add more diversity to the game, which has hundreds of millions of players, Epic is offering a variety of “free stuff” tied in to the Rainbow event.
Plus, Fortnite is adding a play list of LGBTQIA+ artists.
